Head in the stars, heart full of grand melodies, feet firmly on the ground – yet always just one step
away from the edge: The Lovebugs are back!
After seven years of silence, the iconic Basel band returns to the stage with brand new material and their
most beloved classics. A comeback as intense and captivating as their music: determined, dreamy, and at
the same time vulnerable and genuine.
With the Heartbreak City Tour 2025, the Lovebugs carry their legacy into the present with undiminished
joy of playing, once again showcasing the stage presence that has made them a defining band in the
Swiss music scene.
« It was an incredibly enriching experience to work on other projects in recent years, but nothing
feels as right as returning to the Lovebugs, » says Adrian Sieber. « This tour will be a very emotional
experience for all of us – and I hope, for our audience as well. »
The Lovebugs had their first performance over thirty years ago at the legendary Basel Sommercasino
(R.I.P.). Over a thousand concerts have marked their journey, including performances at renowned
festivals like Open Air St. Gallen, Gurtenfestival, and Montreux Jazz Festival. The Lovebugs have also
thrilled fans at international venues like Grosse Freiheit in Hamburg, Dingwalls in London, and the Viper
Room in Los Angeles. Special highlights include opening for the Rolling Stones and collaborative
concerts with the Basel Symphony Orchestra.
In 1994 the Lovebugs released their debut album Fluff, followed by 14 more albums. After their
commercial breakthrough with the single « Under My Skin » in 1999, all their albums reached the Top 10 of
the Swiss Album Charts, with three of them even hitting the number one spot. With songs like « Avalon »
and « The Highest Heights, » the band also achieved international chart success.
Following performances celebrating their 25th anniversary hold in 2018, the Lovebugs decided to
temporarily put the band on. Their interests and priorities had shifted over the years, and continuing was
not an option at the time. As a result, Adrian Sieber produced two solo albums, and bassist Florian Senn
joined Züri West to release the album Loch dür Zyt with the band from Bern.
Now, Adrian Sieber (vocals and guitar) and Florian Senn (bass), along with their three new bandmates
Matthias Gusset (keyboards), Manuel Meisel (guitar), and Philipp Gut (drums), are writing the next
chapter in the band’s history and are currently working on new material in the studio. »We’re thrilled to bring the energy and passion back to the stage. It feels like we never stopped, »
says Senn about the upcoming tour. Fans can look forward to a musical journey that carries the
Lovebugs’ legacy into the present while exploring new paths.
